Dropshipping product research checklist
A dropshipping product research checklist: buyer, supplier quote, ship window, similar listings, and a fee check before ads.
Write the offer down
Name the product, the buyer, and the one reason they would pick your page. Note whether the item is a repeat purchase, a gift, or a one-time fix. That sentence is what you test, not a keyword.
Check the supplier twice
Record product cost, shipping cost, the ship window in days, and whether a second supplier can ship the same variant. If only one supplier can do it, keep the ad test small.
Confirm the variant name matches the photo. A color or size that the supplier cannot ship should not appear on the page.
Check the page a buyer would see
Search the exact item on the store you plan to use. Note whether similar listings are few or many. Many listings mean your photo, bundle, or buyer has to be different.
Run the price through the idea checker. Publish the ship window on the product page before you buy ads. Compare Free and Pro only after the product clears this list.
Questions
How long should this checklist take?
Long enough to get two supplier quotes and order a sample. A same-day list of product names is a starting point, not a finished check.
Do I need Shopify to use the checklist?
No. The checklist is about the product and the supplier. Shopify is an optional sales channel after you can fulfill the item.
